Our vision at The River Academy is to create an environment in which each child’s natural strengths, talents, and spiritual gifts will flourish. We also desire to take the child’s weaknesses and disabilities and see them transformed into strengths by motivating them with Godly principles. Teaching children in an atmosphere of acceptance and promoting what the Bible says about them will transform how they see themselves and ultimately how they respond to life situations. Our goal is to equip children to excel in their academic understanding of the world around them and relate to others in a positive way.
VPK (Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten) is a FREE program offered by the state of Florida to all children who turn 4 years before September 1, 2011. There is no registration fee and the focus is to prepare children for Kindergarten. Instructional activities include phonics, reading, math, computer skills, science and Bible. Some of the curriculum used will be Abeka, Creative Curriculum, and Kids in Ministry.
Field trips and special events held at the school throughout the year will influence, excite, and motivate your child to learn. Music, Art, and dance are all activities that your child will be engaged in throughout the year.
Not only will your child learn the academic skills necessary to prepare them for Kindergarten but our prayer is that they will experience a relationship with God that becomes a way of life. Weekly chapel services are exciting times where children are engaged in songs of worship and adventures from the Bible.
The VPK program is offered Monday – Thursday, 9a.m.-1p.m. from Aug. 22, 2011-May 17,2012. Each child will be assessed in August and May. This will allow you to evaluate the progress they have made through the preschool year.
