Academy Care

We provide high standards of care, safety and education for our children – plus a whole lot of fun in a Godly environment .

Class placement is determined by the age of your child as of September 1 for the current school year.  Some children are placed in different classes based on their maturity level and other factors.

Field trips and exciting events held at the school throughout the year will influence, excite, and motivate your child to learn. Music, Art, Dance, and Guitar lessons are part of the extracurricular activities that your child can be involved in for the 2011-2012 school year.

The River Academy is currently involved in a fund raising program to build a 6,000 sq ft. indoor playground which, upon completion, will be made available to all of the Academy Care children.

Infant

Emphasis is placed on the child’s physical needs, such as feeding and diapering, as well as fostering sound cognitive and emotional development for babies by holding them, singing to them and rocking them throughout the day.  Our warm and loving atmosphere gives these children a safe and secure feeling.  This helps them in the transition of the physical separation from their parents during the day.

The parent will provide diapers, wipes, and bottles with formula.  All belongings must be labeled with child’s first and last name.

1 year

This program builds on the fine and gross motor skills being developed during the first year. One year olds are very curious and providing a safe environment for them to explore new things is essential.  They are learning to walk, talk and feed themselves at this age.

The parent will provide diapers, wipes, lunches and sippy cups.  All belongings must be labeled with child’s first and last name. You may send a blanket/stuffed animal for nap time if you desire.

2 years

Two year olds are a busy group.  They are continually building vocabulary as their communication skills continue to develop.  They are encouraged to become independent as they learn to walk in line, wash their hands and practice  potty training.

Pull-ups must be provided instead of diapers in this class.  Parents will also provide wipes, lunch and sippy cups.  All belongings must be labeled with child’s first and last name.  You may send a blanket/sheet for nap-time if you desire.

The child may bring his/her own breakfast if he/she arrives between 6:00-8:00a.m.

The Academy will provide a nutritious snack in the morning and afternoon.

The parent will provide a change of clothing in a gallon zip-loc bag labeled with child’s name.  This will be kept in child’s cubby for accidents.
